Travelling with your bike on the train
All trains accept bicycles (without reservation), depending on available space. Please note! Some stations in Brussels are not accessible to bicycles: Brussels Central, Brussels-Kapellekerk and Brussels-Congres
You can get your cycling holiday on track in four simple steps:
- Find the stations that connect to your cycling holiday route. You will find many train stations along each iconic cycle route. Check the NMBS network map for an overview of all train connections and train stations. You can also add all train stations in Flanders to the map via the menu on our route planner.
- Then use the BikeOnTrain planner to choose the fastest train connection. You can also check in advance how many places are available for bicycles and in which carriage(s) the bicycle spaces are located.
Tip: try to avoid rush hour trains as much as possible. - Then buy your train ticket (online) from NMBS and select the bicycle supplement. You pay 3 euros per bicycle per single journey during off-peak hours and 5 euros during peak hours, regardless of your destination in Flanders or Belgium.
- Arrive at the station on time and speak to the train conductor before boarding. Speak to your train conductor before boarding: they will tell you where to place your bicycle if there is still space available.
